According to Volunteering Australia, 38% of the population in Queensland volunteers in some capacity. This means that volunteering has a significant impact on the greater economy. With the weekly median number of hours volunteering being 1.1 hours, adding all those hours across the country donated by volunteers means that significant amount of work is done for free!
Volunteering Australia has found that a significant number of individuals gain skills and experience which enhanced or assisted their journey toward paid employment or career enhancement. Many corporations and government entities now require some sort of volunteering work to be done by employees or officers.

Volunteering is one of the most efficient means of achieving a socially inclusive city, region, and state. Volunteering empowers passionate people to share and inspire others in a similar way.
Volunteering Australia recently commissioned a report that found volunteering was a great contributor to social inclusion. It can help reduce feelings of personal isolation, offer people skills, social contacts, support a greater sense of self worth, and challenge the stereotypes we have about different social groups.
