There are some simple requirements for prospective members.
Musicians are required to perform an audition prior to being granted membership. Auditions generally last between 10 to 15 minutes and consist of a performing and musicianship aspect as well as a membership aspect.
Volunteers are required to write an expression of interest. This should outline their work interests and experience as well as the goals they wish to achieve by volunteering.
The minimum standard of musicianship is AMEB grade 7 or equivalent.
Orchestral excerpts are required to be presented by applicants. Excerpts will be sent to candidates before their audition.
All individuals must pay an audition fee and successful candidates must pay membership fees.
Volunteers are expected to be able to access a computer and communicate well using email. They should have a basic working-level knowledge of Microsoft Word. All other technology and music industry skills are taught as part of our volunteer education initiatives.
