Inspire! is a programme designed to excite and inspire young students into continuing with their musical studies. The programme is a joint-venture between the BPO and Inspire! which was founded through the generous support of Geoff Secomb Music.

Students who sign up for an Inspire! VIP Backstage Pass receive special privileges at BPO concerts. These privileges allow students to experience more than just the music.
There are many ways to receive your own Inspire! Backstage Pass:
For Metropolitan concerts:
For Regional concerts:
That way we can tailor a programme to who's coming on the day.
Any student with an Inspire! VIP Backstage Pass who is under the age of thirteen will be admitted to any BPO concert for free.
Students receive a concert pack on arrival which includes a quiz sheet and complimentary programme.
After the performance, students wait at the Inspire! banner where they are collected in order to meet musicians from the orchestra. The musicians will help students complete their quiz sheet, show them to where they would sit if they were in the orchestra, and even help them have a go at playing some of the music!
At some performances, Inspire VIP Backstage Pass holders will even get the chance to meet internationally-renowned conductors and soloists, and even receive their autograph.
At some performances, students may have the chance to tour the performance venue of the concert. Don't worry parents, you don't miss out because you're definitely invited too!
From time-to-time Inspire! VIP Backstage Pass holders can also win great prizes that will help them with their musical studies. Previous prizes have included new saxophones, clarinets, you name it!
Music students need encouragement and inspiration to continue their music education long enough to see results. Children in their middle years of schooling (typically years seven to nine) have always found life tough. Their world completely changes during this time as they shed their old self and search of their new. Unfortunately, one of the first things to be shed are the music lessons. The middle school music drop-out rate is terrifying!!!
After seeing astounding progress at beginner level, students who have been playing for 2-3 years often feel like their progress slows down. However, it is during this time that the young musician develops "outward" rather than "forward" as they consolidate their technique and develop their own personal musical self. This is tough for even the most experienced musicians let alone inexperienced youth musicians. Dedication, routine, and consistency should now be the main goals of students. Goals which, unfortunately, totally contradict their natural instincts during early adolescence!
Middle school students need the "wow" factor to keep them going - inspirational contact with outstanding role-models.
Most music students have only heard their instrument played by other students at their school. Their understanding of what their instrument can sound like is very limited. The Inspire! VIP Backstage Pass helps develop excited music students, aware of what is possible, and inspired by others to practice and to maintain playing an instrument for years to come!
