Christine Ferraro, voice

Appearing in Mother's Day and Mahler on Sunday 9 May


Christine is originally from Melbourne, where she was trained by the late Dame Joan Hammond. Christine graduated with a bachelor of music degree from the Victoria College of the Arts and Teaching Qualifications from the ACU Melbourne.

In 1982, she won the Melbourne Sun Aria Competition and in 1984 the National Shell Aria. With her prize money, she travelled overseas to study at the Julliard school of Music in New Year and later on to the Colonge Hochschule Die Music in Germany following onto singing in the Spoleto Festival. She has performed as an opera diva, oratorical soloist and recitalist in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United Kingdom.

Throughout her career, she has combined teaching and singing, privately and in schools with her performance roles.

After five years living in the UK, Christine returned to Melbourne in 1997. In 2005 she came to live in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast where she has performed in recitals and the choral society as a soloist in the Bach Christmas Oratorio and other opera concerts.

Christine is currently teaching on the Sunshine coast and performing with the Opera Duo “Avadiva” with friend, mezzo soprano Stephanie D’Arlidge.
